    • Service all heating systems and all gas-, oil- or coal-burning appliances by a technician annually.

    • Install a battery-operated and electric-powered carbon monoxide detector in your home and check or replace the battery when you change the time on your clocks each spring and fall. If the detector sounds, leave your home immediately and call 911.

    • Contact a doctor if you believe you have carbon monoxide poisoning.

    • Do not use gas-powered devices such as a generator, grill or stove inside your home, basement or near a near a window or door. Generators should be operated more than 15 feet from the home.

    • Do not run any gas-powered motor inside a closed structure, such as a garage.

    • Do not heat a home with a gas oven.

      The Richard Garner Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life of City of Madison Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner Jr. who died in the line of duty on April 1, 2018. Richard was not only a great Firefighter/Paramedic and a dear friend to many, but he was a constant fixture within the Madison community, helping and serving in any way he could. The scholarship was put in place to help those who are entering the Fire and EMS fields.

      November 16th marks the 1 year anniversary of the passing of our friend and colleague, Dale Mosby.  To mark the occasion, the Rancho Santa Fe Firefighters kicked off the 1st Annual Mosby Memorial Golf Tournament at the Del Mar Country Club.  Nearly half of the Local 4349 members showed up to play golf and pay respect to a great man.

      At 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Local members and Parker Police Department Officers responded to a Confined Space Rescue at 19600 Clubhouse Drive. A 911 caller reported that a 10-year-old child was trapped in a below ground stormwater pipe behind a metal grate. 33 members from South Metro were dispatched including the Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials Teams.
      Pine Drive Structure Fire

      At 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Local members responded to a reported fire inside the Compass Christian Fellowship Church, located on Pine Drive in Douglas County. A 911 caller from inside the building observed flames and smoke in a bathroom and evacuated the building. When members arrived, there was no smoke visible from the exterior, but smoke conditions were encountered inside.
      Peoria St. and E-470 MVA with Extrication

      At 12:54 on Monday afternoon, Local members and Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic collision with a person trapped at South Peoria Street and E470. Upon arrival, members found 3 vehicles involved including a SUV on its side with the driver unable to escape on their own. Members secured the vehicle and removed a portion of the windshield, then assisted the driver out.

      East Standford Cir Structure Fire with Parties Trapped

      At 10:08 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, a 911 caller reported a house fire with a person trapped inside on East Stanford Circle in Arapahoe County. At the same time, Local members were also working to control a brush fire nearby, just southeast of Eaglecrest High School. A members from Safety 35 was first to arrive at the house fire and observed smoke coming from the second floor.
